At EPN, we are committed to strengthening healthcare systems and ensuring that every mother and newborn receives the best care possible. In collaboration with our implementing partners Christian Health Association of Kenya we recently conducted a Basic Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (BEmONC) & Postpartum Haemorrhage (PPH) training for 29 healthcare providers in Kenya. Additionally, in Nigeria, we are continuing our efforts in partnership with our member & Christian Health Association of Nigeria, by training 100 facility-based service providers on the Comprehensive Neonatal Care Course to enhance newborn survival and well-being.
These trainings are a key component under our Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health initiative, which aims to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality by scaling up innovative, evidence-based solutions to prevent and manage complications during pregnancy, childbirth and the postnatal period. This initiative is supported by the Gates Foundation.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the Ministry of Health of Kenya and Nigeria for their leadership in ensuring these trainings adhere to national standards, with national and state master trainers facilitating the sessions. We also acknowledge HATCH Technologies and NEST360 for their invaluable contributions in providing essential training materials and facilitators to make these sessions a success.
By equipping front-line healthcare workers with critical skills and knowledge, we are strengthening MNCH services and saving lives! Let’s continue working together to ensure safe pregnancies, healthy births and thriving newborns across Africa.
