Action on Antibiotic Resistance (ReAct) is an independent global network dedicated to take action on antibiotic resistance. Created in 2005, ReAct collaborates with a broad range of organizations, individuals and stakeholders. It is one of the first international independent networks to articulate the complex nature of antibiotic resistance and its drivers. It believes that sustainable access to affordable and effective prevention and treatment of bacterial infections is part of everyone’s right to health.
ReAct has nodes in five continents and advocates for the adoption of a holistic view of the problem of antibiotic resistance and solutions that engage all of society. The nodes include; ReAct Europe, ReAct North America, ReAct Latin America, ReAct AsiaPacific and ReAct Africa. EPN is the host of the ReAct Africa node.
ReAct Africa brings together experts and key stakeholders to form technical working groups on antimicrobial resistance. ReAct Africa takes on a holistic perspective and raises awareness by informing the general public and different sectors including but not limited to the health veterinarian and agricultural sectors about antibiotic resistance. It provides technical assistance in the development and implementation of the National Action Plans. ReAct Africa also increases collaboration with other relevant networks and organizations and advocates for concerted action on antimicrobial resistance.
