  • EPN Online training: Medicines Supply Chain Management course

    Are you looking to enhance your skills in Medicine Supply Chain Management? Look no further. Under the EPN Essentials of Pharmacy Practice (EPP) training courses, EPN is launching an online Medicine Supply Chain Management course to be delivered through its newly developed e-learning portal. The Medicine Supply Chain Management course will be the first part of the EPP training courses to be rolled out digitally through the portal.

    It will equip learners with skills in forecasting, and quantification for health commodities, visual inspection and local preparation of some products. This is intended to strengthen supply chain systems mitigating against artificial shortages and irrational supply for health commodities.

    Through the portal, learning will be delivered through online video presentations, exercises, online classroom discussions with online quizzes and exams. Some of the areas covered in the course include;

    1. Medicine selection
    2. Medicine procurement
    3. Receiving medicines
    4. Managing distribution systems in the hospital
    5. Managing inventory
    6. Stores management
    7. Quality assurance of medicines

    Ultimately, at the end of the course, the learners are expected to;

    1. Discuss the medicine supply management cycle and its components
    2. Understand the benefits of an effective medicine supply management system
    3. Discuss the implications of poor medicine management
