EPN seeks to maximise the strength inherent in churches and church-related health services to address HIV and AIDS treatment issues.

The HIV & AIDS Treatment Literacy guide for Church leaders is guide for churches and religious institutions, outlining strategies to promote awareness, address stigma, and provide effective support for individuals living with HIV. The guide offers valuable insights into the role of faith communities in promoting HIV testing, facilitating access to antiretroviral therapy (ARVs), and fostering an environment of compassion, understanding and love.

It contains information sheets and activity exercises that church leaders can use to support their own knowledge and use in their daily work with their congregations and church groups, from bible study to youth groups.

The first edition was developed and published in 2008. In 2022, in consideration of development and changes in HIV treatment, EPN  in collaboration with partners the International Network of Religious Leaders Living With or Personally Affected By HIV (INERELA+) and National AIDS and STIs Control Programme (NASCOP), Kenya joined hands to review the guide. Consequently, it was finalized and launched as the second edition in November 2023.

The guide is now available in both electronic and print versions.  EPN acknowledges the commendable work of the partnership and the dedication of the review team.
